Newspapers seem to be more than willing to publish anything they can find that might suggest that Radio is in trouble. But isn't it ironic that as they publish articles about the demise of Radio, not one single major market Radio station has gone off the air? Isn't it the newspapers that are going away? |

Using the telephone to set appointments can be a challenge because it’s easy for the prospects to dodge our efforts to contact them. They are just dealing with a ‘voice’ on the line so it’s easier for them to just say “no”. Many sales people take this personally and develop a phobia about using the phone that turns into a paralysis. |

When selling employment / recruitment advertising, how do we handle “I tried it once, it didn’t work” when we sold it in the first place? |

People Don’t Like Spending Money on Advertising! They don’t like spending their money on something they can’t touch and feel. They don’t like spending their money on something that is difficult to understand. They don’t like spending their money on something that doesn’t generate an immediate return.
That’s exactly why I’m calling!

Every now and then when my computer hard disk fills up with all kinds of files and programs and it seems like its getting bogged down, I like to back up my files, reformat the hard disk and reinstall my operating system. I just like to start off with a fresh install. The computer just seems to run better. |

The Radio sales business is a wonderful business to be in right now because small business owners need local Radio now more than ever before. But with all of the bad news on Wall Street, it's important to keep "stinkin thinkin" off of Main Street. |

If It Bleeds It Leads That’s an old newsroom saying about which stories will be placed at the top of the list for publication or broadcast. It satisfies the natural compulsion of the public to gawk at the bad news along the way. The problem with that reporting philosophy in times like these is that it fuels the economic panic that is driving the irrational fears of consumers and investors.

How do you know there is a Newspaper Circulation Consultant at your front door. He’s wearing a hat that says “Dominoes Pizza”. Just kidding! We are seeing the end of an era though. The Christian Science Monitor just announced they will no longer publish a print edition of their newspaper. It's all going to be online from now on. |

I have a friend who was so stressed out last week over the stock market declines he cashed out on Friday turning his paper losses into real hard losses. He said his portfolio was down about 30%. He said he just couldn't take it anymore. |

A lot of people we talk to have questions about their marketing efforts in difficult economic times like we are experiencing now. Rather than tossing out some gratuitous advice about how it takes money to make money, I thought we could discuss what people are actually experiencing so that you can make better decisions. |
