I love Radio. I've loved Radio since I was 8 years old. That was the year I had my tonsils out. During my recovery, I discovered Radio. I discovered the local Radio station and the local disk jockeys. I discovered that if you were at home sick in bed, you could call the DJs on the phone and talk to them. I found that they would play games and encourage listeners to call in to win. This was very exciting for a young boy stuck at home.

A New Years Resolution PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 27 December 2010 00:00
Recently, an experienced Radio manager was describing the relationships between the stations within his cluster by using terms like "the big dog" and "a little pea shooter". At first, it didn't seem like a big concern because we all tend to use words to describe the stations that make up our local cluster. But as he continued his description of his cluster, it soon became apparent that terms like "the big station" and "the small station" could mean many things to different people. It also became apparent that this line of thinking could actually be harmful to our ability to effectively sell all of the stations within our cluster.

Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. There once was a farmer who had a very large rock in one of his fields. He was always careful to plow around the big rock because he had broken many plows on the rock over the years. One day as he was plowing his field, he accidentally hit the rock again breaking yet another plow. The farmer was so angry that climbed down from his tractor and furiously started to hit the rock with a sledge hammer.
